PRACTICAL FACILITIES

The Maison Grise of Varennes welcomes pilgrims, parishioners and visitors to a functional, modern location offering improved services during a visit to the Sanctuary of Saint Marguerite d’Youville.

The building houses a 100-seat room for the use of pilgrims and parishioners (reservations required), as well as food service facilities for people in need, under the leadership of Action bénévole de Varennes.

The purpose of this house is to be a place of welcome and help, following the long line of work by Saint Marguerite d’Youville, founder of the Grey Nuns of Montreal, whose welcome and care changed the lives of poor and deprived people of her time.

The project, initiated by Mgr Raymond Poisson, then parish priest of Sainte-Anne de Varennes, is the result of an agreement between the parish, the City of Varennes and the Grey Nuns.

Once again, the Grey Nuns bequeath a lovely heritage to the city where Saint Marguerite d’Youville was born.
