HER CONGREGATION
THE GREY NUNS

Following in Marguerite’s footsteps, the Grey Nuns have been performing an important social function for more than three centuries. Always active on behalf of the disadvantaged, they founded such major institutions as Notre Dame Hospital, Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, the Montreal Heart Institute, the Marguerite d’Youville Institute, the Nazareth Institute for the Blind, and a great many homes for the poor, for orphans, for the aging and for those facing loss of independence, etc.

The mission of the Grey Nuns is based on the values of solidarity with the poor, the promotion of social justice and the protection of life’s sacredness, particularly through the promotion of respect for human rights and the safeguarding of the environnement.
